The Small Business Social Media Cheat Sheet

2310 Views

Oct 11, 2013 By Katya Constantine

If you’re just getting your toes wet with social media, then you’ve come to the right place. This Social Media Cheat Sheet provides an overview on setting up your profile and some basic lingo for six of the major social media platforms. To get started, you’ll have to create individual accounts. Simplify the process by using a password manager such as Lastpass. Lastpass will generate secure passwords and autofill them each time you visit a login page. Best of all, it’s free to use and you can share encrypted passwords with others. Now you’ll only need to remember one password as you create multiple profiles.

Take a look at the overview and figure out what platforms best suit your business. Each channel has a learning curve and takes time to manage. Start strong by focusing on the most relevant sites. Once you’re established, recruit across platforms to build a larger following. Share Digg links and YouTube videos on Facebook; share your Tumblr posts in your Twitter feed. Social media requires constant attention. Consider using a management app or contact Digishopgirl to help manage your content.

Start incorporating social media into your business plan today. Just remember, don’t go poking your co-workers on Facebook!
