The world of SEO is constantly changing and it’s essential to update your knowledge in order to keep up with competitors and retain website traffic. Here are the most recent SEO trends and where they’re headed!
Mobile friendly websites
It’s great having a mobile responsive website, but Google is increasingly basing rankings on websites that focus on mobile user experiences.
Accelerated Mobile Pages project (AMP for short) is a new Google initiative to build a better, more user friendly mobile Web by introducing a new “standard” for building web content for mobile devices. In other words, this new standard prefers a more simple and lighter version of the desktop site.
Google’s Adam Greenberg emphasizes the importance of this new initiative: “Google now links to AMP pages in all its search results, which shows the project is now pretty central to the company’s plans.”
With users increasingly using their mobile phones to browse the internet, it’s essential to give them a positive experience. AMP pages are said to load 30 times as faster than non-AMP pages which suggests using it is likely to reduce bounce rates.
Video content
Though written content continues to be the main form of content, video content is on the rise and is predicted to grown even more by 2020. It’s a good strategy to integrate video content with written to further optimize your website.
Even Google is experimenting with video ads in the search results. There are multiple types of video content that you can implement into your search marketing strategy—webinars, step-by-step tutorials, Q&As, etc.
Voice search
Last year Google announced that voice search makes up 20% of all its searches. This is a huge increase considering the little relevance it’s had previously. This may be due to improved technology in voice capturing. In 2013, Google’s accuracy was below 80% and has now risen to over 90% within a number of years.
SEO strategies may have to be altered for voice search. This is because individuals interact differently to how they do on search boxes due to the conversational nature of voice search.
While you should keep an eye out for these trends, it’s essential to continue analyzing your data to determine the best SEO strategies for your business.
