With the rise of content marketing, video content has become one of the most effective marketing mediums around. YouTube continues to grow day by day, Facebook has enabled instantaneous video playback in their news feed, and Google has even started to share videos in their search results. As a marketer, video is no longer a channel that you can avoid if you want to be successful, however, creating and sharing great videos can be difficult if you’re inexperienced. Here are our tips to start creating video content like a pro!

Make An Outline

Think about the overall idea and concept you want to convey through the video and come up with the objectives, outlines, and overall format you want your video to take. Without proper planning, your video will seem a little disjointed and all over the place, so it’s important to know what you want to achieve before the cameras start rolling. Try to include as much relevant information as possible in a short amount of time. You want your videos to be valuable, but most users will only spend a few minutes, at most, watching them. Short story telling can be beneficial as well, but always remember to keep the interests of your audience in mind.

Think Aesthetics

Once you’ve come up with the content aspect, then the second phase starts. This is when you start to think aesthetically and how you want your video to look. Think about the colors and sound effects, timings and movements of objects, and the overall sequence of things that will happen. Keep the starting and end of the video as attractive as possible with an opening and closing frame. If you don’t know how to make motion graphics, you can outsource it to a video professional, but make sure that your intro and outdo is branded and consistent with your brand identity. Also keep the time limit of your video in mind. Remember that an effective video length is about 2 minutes if you are making it to promote your product. For some other websites like YouTube, the effective video length can be a bit longer, around 8 to 10 minutes, depending on what the content of the video is.

Share Your Video

Once you’ve wrapped up the production phase of your video, you need to spend the time and resources to share it effectively. Post your video on YouTube and Vimeo, and share it across your other social media channels like Twitter and Facebook to get the most possible views. Also, don’t forget to post the video on your official blog and website. Try to keep your audience engaged with your video and encourage them to like, comment, and share it with their friends and personal social networks. This way more people will watch the video and your content has a better chance of going viral.
