I have just recently started a career in sales. My question is: What are some ideas you have to increase my lead sources? I have been buying them so far. Is there possibly a good source that is relatively inexpensive, possibly free that leads to customers who would be interested in my product?
Answer: Sales associates have different strengths. Some do better cold calling, some do better setting up appointments over the phone and some do fine with either. The key is to determine which method is most effective for you. As you get rolling, go for referrals. Referrals from warm (family, friends, and associates) and cold (customers, prospects) markets generally give the best opportunity to make sales. Consider how much time you have to meet with prospects before and after work and on weekends. The best way to build relationships and grow your business is through face to face meetings.
List services can be useful for reaching target customers, individuals and businesses. You can also use the Yellow Pages or an Internet search engine like Google to locate commercial lists and directories that may provide you with target customer information. The following are sample list service websites:
Whether you use phone or email to communicate information with prospects, you have to follow up in order to increase your odds of setting an appointment and getting the sale.
