Advertise Where It Matters

There are more media options available for advertising today than there have ever been before. From social media to billboards, old school television to internet streaming, and old fashioned radio to internet radio, the decision on where to advertise is harder than it has ever been. Finding the most effective and cost efficient platform for marketing your business is difficult, to say the least. Consider these ideas when making the decision.
Who Are You Trying to Reach?
Who is your target market? What are your customers paying attention too? Depending on their age, career, lifestyle, and other factors, they may not ever have time to watch TV, they may spend hours on the computer, or they may never be on the road to see a billboard. If you are a restaurant that caters to the business lunch crowd, they may catch a billboard or a radio commercial during their commute. If you are geared toward soccer moms, adverting via flyer at the local library may work just as well. Of course, customer bases are mixed, so it is a good idea to have a good mix of marketing platforms as well. It can be helpful to consider what will be least likely to reach the desired crowd and start eliminating from there.
Who is Already Reaching Them?
Look around at your competition. Those businesses similar to yours that are already successfully reaching customers you want to attract may be your best source of market savvy ideas. Identify them, and then pay attention to their advertising methods. Do they have an eye catching billboard in a high traffic area, or do you often year a catchy radio commercial from them? If whatever they are doing is working, you have a clue of the direction you need to go.
Social Media is a Given
These days, for almost every business, social media marketing is a given. It is not expensive in most cases, and done properly is can catch like wildfire. It may require hiring someone that knows what they are doing, but it would be a rare occasion that such an expenditure would not be worth it. Considering even Baby Boomers frequent social media these days, and the busiest of us can find time to access it on our phones, whether just before bed or even in the bathroom, it reaches virtually everyone but the youngest in our society.
