5 Basic Items You Need for a Home Office

These days, a nice and comfortable home office means everything as we are forced to work from home due to the Corona pandemic. And it seems that this is not going to change anytime soon. Therefore, you need to make sure that your home office is a place where you can work efficiently and effectively. In order to do so, there are a few basics that your office should have.

1. Office chair

And by that we don’t mean your dining chair. If you use your dining chair as your office chair, you’ll probably end up having either back or neck problems. If you have a so-called office job, you really need an ergonomic chair that minimizes physical clutter and discomfort. If you don’t have an office chair at home, ask your boss to bring you a chair. There are even special companies that can pick up chairs from the office and deliver them right at your doorstep. So no excuses!

2. Computer or laptop

Of course you need a laptop or computer to be able to do your job from home. However, not everyone that normally works from the office has their own computer at home. That’s where rental companies come into play. Nowadays, you can simply rent a Macbook (Macbook Huren) or rent a computer (computer huren). A big plus of these rental companies is that they often work with the newest technology and if you have any technical issues, you don’t have to fix it yourself.

3. Computer accessories

Just as important as your computer or laptop are the accessories. Think of a keyboard, mouse and an adjustable stand. Like a good office chair, an adjustable desktop stand helps you to maintain a good posture (if it has the correct position). Be smart and avoid back and neck problems.

4. Headset

In addition to your computer accessories, you may need a headset. Typing and holding your phone at the same time is not ideal, especially if you often have to call your colleagues or clients. Is your partner also working from home or are your kids not allowed to go to school? Then it might be ideal to buy yourself noise cancelling headphones!

5. Big bottle of water

It sounds so evident, but many people do forget to drink enough water. Water is vital to keep yourself hydrated and most importantly concentrated. By drinking enough water you help reduce complaints such as fatigue and headache. So put a big bottle of water on your (kitchen) table and drink, drink, drink!

Do you already have these basics in your home office?

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson
A lecturer, poet, and essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson was the leading voice of the New England Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century, which valued insight over logic while also advocating for humanity’s inherent goodness. This revelation comes from the closing paragraph of “Circles,” a chapter in his 1841 book Essays, First Series.

“I insist on a lot of time being spent, almost every day, to just sit and think. I read and think. So I do more reading and thinking, and make less impulse decisions than most people in business.”  —Warren Buffet

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”  —Thomas Edison

“You can’t ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they’ll want something new.”  —Steve Jobs
