Morning Habits CEOs Use to Jumpstart Their Day

For most working professionals, coffee is the way to start the day. But for those CEOs and business owners who have reached a whole other level of excellence, morning can extend way beyond a simple cup of joe. In fact, these individuals understand that what you do in the morning lays the foundation for your entire day. To start your day right, practice these morning routines:
Meditate
Meditation helps you center yourself, rids your mind of unnecessary concerns, and offers an added clarity with which you can start your day. It may take some time to get into the habit of meditation, but once you get used to it, you won’t want to stop. You’ll quickly see that you become more effective, productive, and calm throughout the day when you start the morning with a few minutes of silence.
Exercise
Hit the treadmill, take the dog for a jog, lift some weights – anything to get that blood pumping and get you energized. Exercise is a great way to get that surge of energy early in the morning, so you’re energized and enthusiastic for the rest of the day. On another level, exercise is very important for your overall health. And if you are physically fit and healthy, you’ll be better equipped to handle anything the business world throws at you.
Journal
Morning journaling helps you start the day with a clean slate. Any concerns you may have from the day before, or any thoughts bothering you about the day ahead—get it all out on paper. Once those thoughts are out of your brain and on the paper, you’ll instantly feel like a weight has been lifted. Many business owners and CEOs do this as a way to begin the day in a fresh manner. Try it out, and see if you agree!
Eat
Don’t skip breakfast. Going into that morning conference call with an empty belly isn’t good for anybody. Not only will you feel weak and tired, but the people next to you may hear your stomach rumbling. Jumpstart your metabolism by filling up on a green smoothie, or a healthy omelet. You’ll feel full until lunch time, and no hunger pangs will pull your focus away from the tasks at hand.
Read
A lot of people like to read before bed, but did you know that reading in the morning is actually a great way to get your mind into the right mentality? Pick up a copy of the New York Times or Wall Street Journal and catch up on what’s going on in the world. Being a good leader means you need to understand the world beyond the walls of your business.
The way you start a morning can set the tone for the rest of your busy day. To stay on track of things, adopt these morning habits.
