A Veterans Day Special

According to the Kauffman Foundation, 45 percent of returning veterans start their own businesses. Veterans possess that unique combination of skills that makes them ideal entrepreneurs—they’re high-achieving, detail-oriented, well-organized, and they know how to delegate responsibility. Also, and perhaps most important, they know how to keep their eyes on the goal and focus on the end game.

The same traits that lead to success in the armed forces can also lead to success in business. As we honor all our veterans and military personnel today, let’s remember to help support them: hire them, partner with them in business, or mentor them to start their own businesses. Happy Veterans Day!
Now as we celebrate this holiday, I also wanted to share something extra to honor the service of our veterans. I had a chance to interview Steve Eubanks, the author of All American: Two Young Men, the 2001 Army-Navy Game and the War They Fought in Iraq. It’s the story of two football rivals who faced each other in the momentous 2001 Army-Navy Game that immediately followed the events of September 11, who would both go on to serve valiantly in the Army and Marines in the Iraq War.
Steve and I talked about their stories: I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
