Small business professionals have been learning the ropes of Industry 3.0 for over fifty years, but the time has come to learn a new way of manufacturing – with Big Data.

Industry 4.0, or the era of Interconnectivity, has been growing in strength since the earliest parts of 2011. Nearly a decade in the making, this system of manufacturing is beginning to pick up speed at an incredible rate. By 2025, Industry 4.0 is projected to grow into an industry that is at least $25 billion strong. If your business (or your data) isn’t ready for the change that’s coming, you may be left behind.

Here’s what you need to know about the basics of Industry 4.0.

  • The era of Interconnectivity blossomed out of technological developments in communication, data streaming, and machine learning systems (AI programs).
  • Industry 4.0 feeds a large amount of data to machine learning systems to plan the logistics of CAD design, manufacturing, and shipping developments.
  • Businesses leveraging this system can deliver products faster, cheaper, and more efficiently than ever before.

The most important part of the Industry 4.0 process is the development of homogenous, clean, and fidelitous data. This data must be tied into all sides of the business in question, and should be highly modernized in order to remain compatible with changing systems and increasingly intelligent Smart machinery.

Keeping your data up to par is absolutely essential for success in a small business environment. It would be wise to invest in an auditing system that monitors your data and data programs for signs of weakness or disrepair.

When you are ready to begin overhauling current business practices in favor of Industry 4.0, be sure that your company is prepared for the change.

  • Modernize your internal and supplier CAD data. Ensure that both sets of data are credible and reliable.
  • Make your products and business processes smarter by installing Industry 4.0 machinery. While not every part of your business should be modernized, critical points of data conversion must be considered.
  • Prepare an effective data structure that will house data for all aspects of your company. If you are not sure how to do this, speak with a licensed IT professional.

The future is coming much faster than we realize. Update your small business data flow to be compatible with the rise of Industry 4.0.
