We’ve heard that Checkpeople is user-friendly and open to anyone, even those without a background in pre-employment screening – or any other type of screening, for that matter. But is this true? Should you buy a background check from this company based on hearsay alone? This Checkpeople review can help you make this important decision.

Getting Started

When you type in a name and any other information about your search target in the search bar, you’ll get a list of additional details. There might be more than one person with that name in the database. In this case, there will be a list of possible matches. To help you choose the right one, you will need to provide additional information. If you don’t have any other information, you can simply go through the list and look at each match. The details available will help you identify the right person.

Since there is no mobile app, this service’s accessibility is somewhat limited. However, the site is easy to use.

Deep Web Searches

Deep web searches are where this background check company truly excels. It will expose vast volumes of content on the deep web to users, which contributes to hundreds of domains, tens of languages, and a multitude of search queries per second.

The deep web, which is the layer of the Internet beneath the one accessible to Google and other common search engines, is recognized as a major structured data source. It can provide great value, as long as you’re sure the results are accurate. Checkpeople has two approaches to the management of the data results yielded: the virtual integration approach and the surfacing approach. They both have value, just in different ways. In every event, one can derive great benefits from analyzing vast collections of online data structure that tends to be disparate.

What to Consider

Checkpeople is not a consumer reporting agency. Therefore,  you cannot use their data to make a legal decision on recruitment, insurance, tenant screening, or consumer credit. While it is a safe and legitimate service, it only gives access to publicly available information. That said, very few background check companies have inspired as many people to write reviews as Checkpeople. Knowing the pros and cons shared by other users is essential. However, they don’t have consistent feedback.

There are many five-star reviews of the service on Trustpilot, most of which involve accuracy of results, ease of use, and customer service. However, not all of the reviews are positive. There are also some neutral and a few poor ones.

The screening company’s BBB rating is not perfect, but they have resolved most of the complaints, which largely involve pricing structure. More specifically, you are automatically upgraded after the free trial of five days, so you need to cancel before that time passes unless you will need these services in the future.

Your first search on Checkpeople is free, just like the initial free trial. However, you’ll be asked to provide a bank or credit card number. They will charge you $44.85 a month if you don’t cancel the free trial. This fee covers unlimited and highly detailed searches.

The full anonymity offered by the company is also a huge advantage. If you don’t tell someone you looked them up, they’ll never know.
