4 Types of Industrial Knives Necessary for Your Business

Industrial knives are essential to your business, and for them to work well, they need to be made from the right materials! Learn more about the materials that make industrial knives strong.

Materials Used In Industrial Knives

High Carbon Steel
High carbon steel is a mixture of carbon and steel, which makes it incredibly strong. Carbon steel lasts longer than traditional stainless steel knives. However, a high carbon steel blade can chip if it’s dropped. High carbon steel can also be frequently sharpened without losing its integrity, which makes it an excellent choice for industrial knives.

Ceramic
Ceramic knives are excellent for times when you need precision, as they can cut very thin materials. They’re also one of the best choices for preventing corrosion on your knives or saw blades. The ceramic material can last a long time without needing to be sharpened and is extremely hard.

Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a popular material option for industrial knives, as they are rust and stain-resistant. Stainless steel contains chromium, which protects the material from water damage, so they’re a great choice for knives that are exposed to outdoor elements. Another reason that stainless steel is a popular material choice is that it has a higher strength-to-weight advantage, which means knives need less material and can be lighter.

8670 Carbon Alloy
8670 is a type of high carbon steel that makes a great industrial blade because it is especially hard. It contains elements of carbon, nickel, and manganese, which make it extremely tough. It is also a very versatile material and can be used in industrial knives as well as circular knives. It has high wear resistance and can be made in a thicker gauge than other materials.
