How Learning Coding Can Make You a Self-Sufficient Entrepreneur

As an entrepreneur, you are someone who must wear many hats, especially as your business takes off. The more you can keep in-house, the more you will save. Being an entrepreneur means building your business from the ground up, and one area that you may not have considered doing yourself is coding. Coding is nowhere near as mysterious or difficult as you may have been lead to believe, and there are numerous reasons for knowing how to do it on your own.

Fair Assessment of Labor

Have you ever noticed that rates for coding are extremely varied? What rate means that you are getting cheated, and what rate is appropriate? If you learn to code on your own, you will know how much coding is worth. If you choose to turn the coding over to someone else later on, you will not be cheated by slick talk or a shiny portfolio. The mean hourly wage for a coder in the United States is $38.91 per hour. Think about that figure when you are considering coding.

Impressive Image

An entrepreneur must always be willing to dive in and do the work independently, and that is what coding offers you. People respect someone who built something from the ground up all on their own, and that is what you can do for yourself. If you can lay a good groundwork for your business through your own code, people will respect you and what you can do for them. When people imagine entrepreneurs who can code, they think of the rock star legends, like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, that is, the real success stories!

Reduces Overhead

The problem of relying on someone else for your code is that in many cases, you have rely on them to maintain it. Some coding is so dense that you need to maintain the original coder indefinitely to keep things going. Doing your own coding allows you to be independent and to make sure that you keep your costs as low as possible. When a coder can cost anywhere from $40–100 per hour, this is a real savings for you!

More Certification

When it comes right down to it, coding is something that is very straightforward. It requires training, but through something like a computer science online master’s degree, you can get the information that you need. In addition to getting the training necessary to maintain your own web presence and functionality, you will also have more certifications that will demonstrate your skill and your ability.

Complete Control

To one extent or another, entrepreneurs are people who like to be in control. They like to know that they are the ones running the show, and that they have complete power over the work that they do. If something goes wrong with your site, you can fix it right away as long as you know how to code. You never need to be dependent on other people, and you will always be able to take care of problems on your own. Become a Zend Certified Engineer, an Adobe Certified Expert or Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer and see your stocks rise!

Learning to code takes time and effort, but it is worth both. Coding can bring you closer to realizing your entrepreneurial dreams.
