5 Reasons Why The Office Still Matters

With so many of us working from home these days, either because of a new wave of infections in our area or because we realised that working from home makes us more productive people – either way, we’re hauled up at home. You may be tempted to just work from the comfort of your sofa but here are 5 reasons why you should use dedicated office space.

  1. Fewer Distractions

Having a dedicated workspace allows you to carry on with your work with fewer distractions from the outside world. You may be tempted to work from the comfort of your sofa but you’ll get distracted by the television and your productivity will suffer. Having fewer distractions will enable you to get more done in a day and you’ll be a happier person for it.

  1. Productivity

Your productivity can be greatly increased by having an office because it structures your work life and shifts your brain into work mode. A thoughtfully planned office space will promote a healthy flow from the office printers right down to the staplers. Productivity needs to be of prime concern when designing your workspace. Make your office even more productive by working in natural elements, like organic materials and fresh plants, to increase the overall productivity of your workspace and make your employees happier.

  1. Collaboration

Collaboration in the workplace is an effective way for your team to combine their knowledge and experience to create something amazing with the right business tech tools. Efficiency is an integral aspect of business and the more your employees can get done, the more successful your business will be. Having a central office space where your team can share their ideas will ensure that your company receives higher success rates, month after month and year after year. A collaborative working environment increases the excitement of your employees and provides an energetic boost to the workplace.

  1. Boundaries

Keeping a dedicated office space, whether you are at work or home, enables you to set boundaries between your work and personal lives. This is especially true when it comes to working from home, your family may not understand that you need uninterrupted time if you are in the same room as them. A dedicated office can serve as a quiet sanctuary for you to work in peace. Having a structured office space sets behavioural limits for workplace interactions and keeps your employee’s focused.

  1. Structured Creativity

An office should be a place that fosters creativity, for you and your team. Once your team can explore their creative ideas they become more emotionally invested in their work and they are less likely to fail. Creativity inspires your employees to collaborate in ways they never did before and you need to have the right environment to achieve this. Their office should provide a stimulating atmosphere in which to learn and grow as valuable members of your corporate team.

The structured aspect of having an office helps manage the expectations of your team by putting invisible boundaries in place which provides them with much-needed consistency.
