Local Sponsorships Drive Your Business

This week’s blog is going to delve a little deeper into the franchise journey, as we explore using local sponsorships to drive business opportunities. The aim, of course, is to provide some key advice and angles for getting your franchise noticed and utilized by new customers.

 
Sponsorships come in all shapes and sizes. Conceivably, a franchise owner might already be participating in a local marketing spend (some are required by franchises), but if there is leeway in the budget or you’re just looking for something a little extra, sponsorship of a local event can go a long way. We’re not suggesting that you get involved in any super-expensive projects, but rather recommend taking a tailored approach to finding an event your business can get behind.
 
For instance, are you a health and wellness franchisee? Perhaps finding a suitable fun-run in your local community can be a way to further introduce your business. Say you own a gym franchise. Sponsorship of the fun run should get you signage (many are in the form of banners), t-shirts, race packets and possibly even an after-party where you can mingle with competitors. Some fun runs even have goody bags of swag for the individual competitors. Place business cards, discounted or trial membership offers or other memorable collateral.
 
The same concept of sponsorship also applies to community events. Does your town, city or locale host any seasonal events, such as a Christmas on the Square? Because if you own a baking franchise, your treats would likely be a welcome addition to the festivities. There’s also the traditional sports sponsorship efforts such as little league events. Great for pizza parlors, to say the least.

There are many ways for a franchise to expand its business footprint across the local community through sponsorships—and they don’t have to break the bank. Make sure when you express an interest and negotiate that you are getting exactly what you signed up for. Then take advantage of every inclusion possible in order to make the project pay off.
 
Local sponsorships are in no way a new concept, but finding the right opportunity for your franchise may lead to an increased amount of customers and business. You’ll never know if you don’t try!
